How To | Best Prepare for Microblading

Updated: Jun 15, 2021

When it comes to Microblading, we all want the best results possible right? Well, it's always possible, but does require a few things to be aware of to get those best results.

We're going to keep this short and straight to the point. We want to help you understand the important things to do to prepare your skin for Microblading.

Skin: Your skin is one of the most important things to make sure is prepped properly. You do not want to show up to your scheduled appointment with any inflammation, swelling, cuts, rashes etc. The skin should be healthy near and around the brow/eye area.

Skincare: The best thing to do is to not apply any products on the brow/eye area 24 hours in advance and the day of the appointment. Exfoliating can be done minimum 48 hours prior. Avoid all skin creams, oils and serums. Glycolic acids and peels should also be avoided completely for at least 2 weeks to 1 month before the scheduled appointment.

Medications: Certain medications can be a contraindication. We know you may really want Microblading, but if certain medications are important to your health, and will not lead to optimal results, sometimes it's best to not have any regrets. Microblading is a semi-permanent treatment, but could still last up to 3 years with the potential of not the colour you wished for. So please advise your technician of any medications you may be taking to work together on finding the best possible solution.

Read our list of Contraindications

Caffeine: You may have read or heard of this before, and it is important to take seriously. Caffeine is a stimulant and may also stimulate blood flow, which means with a little more excessive bleeding when Microblading, may lead to the pigment not holding and may disappear after the first session has fully healed (which will lead to more touch ups).

Alcohol: Same reason as above.

Stay Informed: We always suggest to get properly informed of the suggested ways to prep beforehand and best way to prep afterwards as well. Microblading is a 50/50 effort between technician and client. Us technicians are responsible for properly informing you, designing the perfect brow shape, choosing the best colour to compliment your hair and skin and providing an overall great experience. You are responsible for listening and applying the information given such as following the instructed before steps and aftercare. We put our trust in you as well that you will do your best to take care of them properly to avoid any premature fading or colour changes.

We hope this was a quick and informative guide towards the best way to prepare for your Microblading appointment.
